Virtual reality is changing the way MacEwan University markets their Residence. MacEwan University’s Campus Services recently partnered with 3D Scan Experts to create the first virtual reality student residence experience in Canada.
The virtual reality tour allows students to walk through residence rooms using a Google Cardboard viewer and any recent Android or Apple phone, from anywhere in the world.
“A photo just can’t do what this virtual reality tour does,” says MacEwan University’s Campus Services director Kris Bruckmann. “With the virtual reality tour, we can show students exactly where they’ll be living and they can experience it in a way that is fully immersive.”
Essentially, prospective students can ‘fly through’ the residence’s lobby, walk through the different suites and get an “in-person” perspective on study lounges and recreational areas. According to recruitment experts, potential students are much more likely to visit the property if they have a more accurate impression of the residence and the virtual reality tour places them directly in it.
“Virtual reality is the next generation of real estate marketing,” says 3D Scan Experts founder Jesse Tutt, “for MacEwan University, it puts them on the leading edge for recruitment. From anywhere, students can experience what it is like to walk through their residence without actually being there.”
